How to Play

ℹ️ If you're brand new to The Third Kingdom and the Futureverse ecosystem, make sure you check out the Getting Started with The Third Kingdom guide first!

1. Choose Your Biome

Begin by selecting a biome for your Origin Island based on the SurrealScapes you own. Once selected, the biome cannot be changed (for now).

2. Explore Your Island

Navigate your island with ease:

  • Click and drag with the right mouse button

  • Use WASD or arrow keys to move

  • Scroll to zoom or use Q and E for fine control

3. Build Extractors

Your first goal: harvest resources – stone, gems, ooze, gold, and alloy. Fill your Origin Island with extractors to begin. Need to reshuffle your setup? You can always demolish and rebuild.

4. Harvest Resources

When an extractor has harvested enough, an indicator will appear over it. Click on it to collect the resources. The indicator will flash when the extractor is full.

5. Upgrade Extractors

Upgrade your extractors to increase the rate at which they extract resources or how much they can hold before they reach capacity.

6. Deploy Prysms

Prysms are land-harvesting devices essential for generating energy, harvesting Mycelium, and unlocking ROOT.

  • Deploy Prysms on Origin Island to boost production based on their traits

  • Each time you prestige, deployed Prysms generate energy

ℹ️ Note: Prysms are consumable collectibles lasting one season once deployed. However, Eternal Prysms of Mastery are special and remain active across all seasons, providing ongoing production boosts.

Important: Once deployed, Prysms are tied to your FuturePass, and their metadata updates to reflect their deployed status. Deployed Prysms cannot be used again in the game.

7. Stack SurrealScapes

SurrealScapes are resource-rich biomes that:

  • Boost resource production

  • Increase Prysm deployment capacity

  • Unlock missions (learn more below)

By deploying Prysms and stacking SurrealScapes strategically, you can enhance your resource production, energy generation, and unlock greater rewards.

8. Use Kingdom Coins

You can choose to use Kingdom Coins to accelerate progress:

  • Skip extractor upgrade costs

  • Reroll Prysm production boosts

  • Mint resources to Material World

  • Reroll available missions

Kingdom Coins can be purchased with ROOT tokens. Here’s a guide on how to buy ROOT

9. Prestige

Once you’ve collected enough resources, click the Lighthouse to prestige. Prestiging will:

  • Reset your buildings and materials

  • Give you a production production

  • Generate energy for Mycelium harvesting (if you have at least 1 Prysm deployed)

  • Unlock the Archipelago

10. Trade your Resources

Mint and trade the resources you harvest to help build the Material World, an interconnected realm of materials that creators can use in their games across the metaverse.

11. Unlock the Mycelium Archipelago

After your first prestige, you’ll unlock the Mycelium Archipelago, where energy can be converted into Mycelium, and Mycelium redeemed for ROOT.

12. The Mycelium Totem

At the center of your Archipelago is the Mycelium Totem. It converts energy into Mycelium at a steady, baseline rate – just choose the amount of energy to deposit, and let it work for you.

It also allows you to redeem your Mycelium for ROOT at a 1:1 ratio, with a 72-hour cooldown after each conversion.

13. Unlock Missions

Place your SurrealScapes in eight slots in the archipelago to unlock missions.

  • The bigger the SurrealScapes, the more missions they unlock

  • Team Bonuses apply to each slot – choose your placements wisely

14. Form Squads

Form squads of character collectibles made up of two roles:

Manage your squads in The Great Hall.

15. Run Missions

Now that you’ve assembled your squad, it’s time to send them on missions!
Every mission presents a unique challenge and reward. Missions differ by:

  • Max energy amount

  • Duration

  • Energy-to-Mycelium conversion rate

  • Chance of success

Don't like your options? Reroll individual missions using Kingdom Coins.

16. Mission Results

The amount of Mycelium you get from a mission depends on its star rating:

  • 3 stars: Achieve the mission's full potential Mycelium amount!

  • 1 star: Receive the baseline amount, matching the passive Totem output.

To qualify for the highest rating, all squad members must remain in your wallet for the entire duration of the mission.

Note: All inactive mission slots will refresh every 6 hours. After completing a mission, the empty slot will generate a new opportunity at the next timed cycle.

17. Redeem Mycelium for ROOT

You can redeem your Mycelium harvest for ROOT via the Mycelium Totem.

  • Minimum: 2,000 Mycelium required to convert

  • Conversion rate: 1:1 (Mycelium to ROOT)

  • Cooldown: 72 hours after each redemption
